Wrangell High School is home to the Wrangell Wolves. There are approximately 150 students in grades 9-12. The staff offers a diverse curriculum that ranges from remedial classes to concurrent enrolment in college classes that offer dual credit. There is also an Alternative Program for students who 1)have gotten behind in their high school coursework, 2) are returning to school after an absence, 3) wish to take electives not offered in the general curriculum, or 4) have a conflict in scheduling and need to have a particular class for graduation. Students also have the opportunity to participate in the School-To-Work program with over 30 business partnerships. The staff includes 13 certified teachers, Indian Education Director, 4 instructional aides, a School-To-Work and a Technology coordinator, 3 maintenance and custodial, a guidance counselor, and a principal.

WHS extra-curricular regional activities include basketball, cheering, cross-country, drama-debate-forensics, volleyball, and wrestling with students traveling annually to State Competitions. In addition to the regional activities, students also participate in Business Professionals of America, Close-Up, Family Career and Community Leaders of America, Honor Band and Choir, City of Wrangell's Legislative Liaison, and the Alaska Association of School Board Student Leadership Conference.

The Southeast Art Festival was initiated at WHS and is an annual event, but beginning in 2003 will begin to rotate between southeast schools. Students and master craftsmen come from around Southeast Alaska to a four day Invitational Art Festival. Students and community members work side-by-side learning metalsmithing, basketweaving, woodworking, stained glass, ceramics, native carving, watercolors, and drawing/painting. Art is in the culture of our community and this festival is a fun learning experience for all.
