Economic Development Committee
Mission
The Economic Development Committee is set up in response to Federal requirements and programs of the Economic Development Administration and the U.S. Forest Service. The Committee's focus is to encourage employment opportunities, foster more stable and diversified local economy, improve local economic conditions, and provide a mechanism for guiding and coordinating the efforts of local individuals and organizations concerned with economic development in Wrangell.
Responsibilities include:
1) recommendations of economic policies, plans and priorities;
2) coordination of economic development plans;
3) advocates and representatives of the community economic development;
4) promotion of public/private partnerships;
5) review economic development projects and activities submitted for public funding assistance;
6) preparation of the annual Community Economic Development Strategy.
The Economic Development Committee is comprised of a 7 member volunteer board appointed by the Mayor. The Committee meets as needed.
