Wrangell Permit And License Information

On June 1, 2008, the City of Wrangell became the City and Borough of Wrangell. While there will be time needed for transition with the name change, government contacts and business activity should remain the same. The City and Borough of Wrangell requires permits and licenses for certain activities. The most commonly used forms can be found on-line under the Department that issues the permit. Development activities, either residential, commercial or industrial, may require permits approved by the Planning and Zoning Commission. All building activities will require a building permit and inspections and possibly an electrical permit with inspections. Other construction or land development activities may require state and federal permits. It is up to the developer to obtain the necessary state and federal approvals. While there is no business license issued by the City and Borough of Wrangell, all businesses operating within the Borough are required to have a State Business License. Any form or application that still says City of Wrangell is still valid.
