Wrangell Medical Center is a borough-owned hospital with 8 acute care/swing beds, 14 long term care beds and a 24-hour Emergency Room. An array of specialty services such as general surgery, podiatry, OB/GYN, and Physical Therapy, etc. are provided. There are four permanent family practitioners and 1 nurse practitioner. The facility includes a physical therapy department, laboratory and radiology services. There is a visiting physician program that regularly brings in physician specialists.
The Hospital Board of the Wrangell Medical Center is comprised of a 9 member elected board. They serve 4 year staggered terms. The Board regularly meets the third Wednesday of every month at 5:30 p.m. in the Nolan Center Classroom.
