2025 Parks & Recreation Facility Maintenance Closure
Important Announcement – Temporary Facility Closure for Maintenance
Dear Wrangell,
We want to inform you about the upcoming facility closures at Wrangell Parks & Recreation, which will accommodate our annual maintenance and allow our team to complete several critical projects.
Closure Details:
To efficiently complete these projects, we will first conduct a full facility closure, starting on Monday May 5th, 2025. This closure includes the pool, weight room, cardio equipment, locker rooms, and community center. We will re-open in phases.
• We aim to re-open the weight room, cardio and lockers by the end of May.
• The pool re-open date is estimated at the end of July.
• All re-open dates will depend on project completion. We will do our best to keep the people informed.
Why This Closure is Necessary:
Annual maintenance is crucial to keeping our facility safe, functional, and enjoyable for all. This year, we have additional needs, including necessary repairs and updates to the lockers in both the men’s and women’s locker rooms, chlorination cell replacement, heat exchanger repairs and HVAC assessment and maintenance. By temporarily closing the facility, we can expedite the completion of these projects while also helping to manage costs, particularly in light of reductions to our temporary wages budget for FY25.
Passes & Punch Cards:
During this closure, all passes, and punch cards will be paused until the facility re-opens. If you have any questions regarding your membership, please reach out to our team by calling 907-874-2444 or with an email to lrobinson@wrangell.com.
Parks, Trails, & Green Spaces:
While the facilities will be closed, our parks, trails, and green spaces remain open! We encourage you to enjoy the great outdoors and take advantage of these spaces while we work hard to complete these essential improvements. Park shelter reservations can be made online at www.wrangellrec.com.
We understand this closure may cause inconvenience, and we appreciate your patience. Our team is committed to pushing through these projects as efficiently as possible so we can welcome you back as soon as we can. For updates or any questions, check our website at www.wrangellrec.com.
Thank you for your support as we work to enhance our community spaces!
